Big River Engineering & Manufacturing has been acquired by Engineered Medical Systems

Engineered Medical Systems (EMS) of Bartlett, TN announces the purchase of Big River Engineering and Manufacturing (BREM) of Memphis, TN.

The purchase allows EMS to expand their customer base, manufacturing capacity and capability while enhancing EMS’ position as a leader in the Orthopedic instrument and implant manufacturing market.

In addition to their Bartlett facility, EMS will operate out of the downtown Memphis facility for at least one year until all the employees, systems and necessary equipment from Big River have been integrated into the recently expanded EMS Bartlett campus.

Matt Lewis, CEO of EMS stated - “EMS has been on an amazing journey for the last 20 years with a passionate focus on manufacturing complexity that has helped support and grow many of the leading medical device companies in the market today. It comes with great excitement to welcome Tom Roehm and John Monty along with the entire Big River team. I have been most impressed with Big River’s focus on providing strong engineering service and quality to their customers – while maintaining a cohesive internal culture. These attributes align our companies and will complement us both as we work to integrate our teams and focus on key customer opportunities. We are excited to welcome Big River employees and customers to the EMS family. I personally look forward to getting to know everyone better."

Tom Roehm, CEO of Big River stated– “I look forward to leveraging the knowledge I have gained over the last 30 years in the medical device industry to join EMS in our continued growth and service to the orthopedic instrument and implant contract manufacturing market. I could not think of a better entity for whom to work and be acquired.”
